 Young Africans have officially appointed Manqoba Mngqithi as their new head coach on a two-year deal, adding one of South African football’s most experienced tacticians to their technical team.m after he parted ways with Golden Arrows. The move gives the Tanzanian giants a coach with a strong winning background and a long track record at the top level. 

Mngqithi arrives with a coaching career built over many years across South Africa, beginning in the lower divisions before he moved into top-flight football. He has coached Maritzburg City, Moja United, Royal Tigers, the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Golden Arrows, AmaZulu, Chippa United and Mamelodi Sundowns in different roles. 

His most successful spell came at Mamelodi Sundowns, where he served first as assistant coach from 2013 before becoming co-head coach and later sole head coach. During that period, he helped Sundowns win multiple league and cup honours, including Premiership titles, MTN8 crowns, a Nedbank Cup and the CAF Champions League. 

At Golden Arrows, Mngqithi also made his name by guiding the club to MTN8 success in 2009, a major achievement that boosted his reputation in South African football. He later returned to Arrows after his time at Sundowns, further adding to his experience in managing different squads and rebuilding teams. 

Young Africans will hope his tactical discipline, trophy-winning pedigree and experience of handling pressure at big clubs can translate into success in Tanzania. With his background in building competitive teams and working in demanding environments, Mngqithi brings a strong CV to one of East Africa’s most ambitious clubs. 

His appointment marks a significant step for the club as they look to strengthen their technical leadership and compete for major honours. Mngqithi’s record suggests a coach who understands both short-term results and long-term team development.
