LUCAS RIBEIRO SET FOR ESPERANCE MOVE AS HE PREPARES TO SIGN
Former Mamelodi Sundowns winger Lucas Ribeiro Costa is set to join Tunisian giants Esperance de Tunis, with the Brazilian attacker expected to complete his transfer this week.
According to iDiski Times, the 27-year-old is *due to land in Tunisia on Tuesday* where he will *put pen to paper on a three-year contract* with the 4-time CAF Champions League winners.
From Spain to North Africa
Ribeiro spent last season in Spain with *Cultural Leonesa*, where he featured regularly despite the club’s struggles.
The Brazilian made *31 appearances*, scoring *6 goals and registering 1 assist*. However, Leonesa were ultimately relegated to the *Spanish third division* at the end of the campaign.
His performances still caught the eye, and Esperance moved quickly to secure his services as they bolster their attack for both the Tunisian Ligue 1 and continental football.
New chapter after Sundowns
Ribeiro is no stranger to African football. He previously played for *Mamelodi Sundowns*, where he became known for his pace, directness and ability to play across the front line.
After leaving Chloorkop, the 27-year-old headed to Europe but now returns to Africa with one of the continent’s biggest clubs.
Esperance are targeting more domestic and CAF Champions League success this season, and see Ribeiro as a key addition to provide width, goals and experience.
He will undergo his medical before signing the *three-year deal* in Tunis.
