Cardoso Confirms Saleng Is "Separated From The Team" After Repeated Discipline Issues
Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has confirmed that Monnapule Saleng is no longer training with the first team after repeatedly breaking club rules.
The 27-year-old attacker has been absent from Sundowns duties for some time, and Cardoso says the club has taken action.
"He Consecutively Broke The Rules"
Speaking on the situation, Cardoso did not hold back.
“Regarding Saleng unfortunately the situation is very different,” the CAF Champions League-winning coach said.
“Saleng consecutively broke the rules and values of the locker room and of the club, and for some time already he is not training with the team.”
Cardoso revealed two key incidents that led to the decision.
“Saleng was on the list for the second match of the Champions League and he didn’t appear. Saleng was on the list to go to camp but he did not appear, or he said he would not go.”
Club Takes Action
Following the no-shows, Sundowns management decided to act.
“So the club decided put him separated from the team, he’s not with us right now,” Cardoso confirmed.
The coach made it clear this is not a football decision, but a disciplinary one.
Saleng joined Sundowns with high expectations after impressing at Orlando Pirates, but he has struggled for game time and now faces an uncertain future at Chloorkop.
With the PSL season underway, it remains to be seen whether Saleng and the club can resolve the issue, or if a transfer is the only way forward.
